171 God is but Love, and therefore so am I.
All things are echoes of the Voice for God.
God is but Love, and therefore so am I.
The power of decision is my own.
God is but Love, and therefore so am I.

All things are echoes . . . I hear the Voice for God bouncing off distant mountains. How great Thou art! Your grace fills the heart, your soft touch envelops me. Sights and sounds connect us with the invisible--invisible because it is the ground of being, invisible because there is nowhere that this Light is not. I decide with God today: God is but Love, and therefore so am I.

171 (2006) God is but love, and therefore so am I.
All things are echoes of the voice for God.
The power of decision is my own.

MT: Thanks for your guidance, you echo of the Voice for God! And thanks for helping me remember to ask for help.
JC: Yes, helping you remember to ask for help . . . we get pretty convoluted, don't we.
MT: One has to back up and back up again to some kind of central need. I need reminders.
JC: Today let me remind you: the song that you are is an echo of the Voice for God. You can be that, or be the other, which is a choice only at the illusion level.
MT: I will pay attention and listen for that sweet distant note today.

172 (2006) God is but love, and therefore so am I.
In my defenselessness my safety lies.
I am among the ministers of God.

MT: To walk the world totally without defenses--that is Heaven.
JC: No judgments, only your presence radiating love. That is your natural inheritance.
MT: I spent six decades putting up barriers, now I have a chance to tear them down. I pledge to dedicate my remaining years to this Great Undoing. Sometimes it's difficult, when the people I meet have strong barriers of their own.
JC: But part of your defenselessness, remember, is to make no judgments of others' barriers. Not to buy into them. To regard them with a kind, bemused attitude. Change comes to everyone when they are ready.
MT: So here is the other part of the lesson: I am a minister of God, and at the same time I let all things be exactly as they are. That's a razor edge to walk, JC.
JC: First, let go of your missionary zeal. Your first task is to accept Atonement for yourself. The reward is inner peace, and inner peace will spread out from you to others without effort.
MT: So others' barriers are only a reflection of mine . . . how useful, to see them in this light. Thank you, Friend.

173 God is but love, and therefore so am I.
I will step back and let Him lead the way.
God is but love, and therefore so am I.
I walk with God in perfect holiness.
God is but love, and therefore so am I.

I am love. Nothing but love. Mahatma Gandhi comes to mind: "There comes a time when an individual becomes irresistible and his action becomes all-pervasive in its effects. This comes when he reduces himself to zero." He reduces himself to zero when he steps back and lets God lead the way.

What do I really believe right now? Am I anything but love? What could I be that is not love? I could pretend I am sin and deny that I am love. I could pretend I am darkness, but this would not change the eternal, immutable fact that I am light. From light I came, to light I shall return, because light is what I am.

173 (2006) God is but love, and therefore so am I.
I will step back and let Him lead the way.
I walk with God in perfect holiness.

MT: I like those words: I will step back and let Him lead the way. They are very calming.
JC: The truth is always calming.
MT: I have always found it easier to follow than to lead, but I guess I was following the wrong guide!
JC: The world looks for a leader and a savior, not realizing that the savior is within, not without. Whoever relies on another ego will inevitably be disappointed.
MT: So much for voting your candidate into office! Does this mean I don't get involved in politics?
JC: Ask for guidance, take whatever action seems most appropriate, and do not look back.

173 God is but love, and therefore so am I.
I will step back and let Him lead the way.
I walk with God in perfect holiness.

I am love. Nothing but love. Mahatma Gandhi comes to mind: "There comes a time when an individual becomes irresistible and his action becomes all-pervasive in its effects. This comes when he reduces himself to zero." And how do we do this? Of course--we step back and let God lead the way.

173 God is but love, and therefore so am I.
I will step back and let Him lead the way.
I walk with God in perfect holiness.

What do I really believe right now? Am I anything but love, light, energy? What could I be that is not that? I could pretend I am sin and deny that I am love. I could pretend I am darkness, but this would not change the eternal, immutable fact that I am light. From light I came, to light I shall return, because light is what I am.

174 God is but love, and therefore so am I.
Into His presence would I enter now.
God is but love, and therefore so am I.
Today I learn to give as I receive.
God is but love, and therefore so am I.

MT: Time to reconnect . . . with so many Things to Do I find myself neglecting the Work.
JC: Call it the Play, and you will have less trouble remembering.
MT: Touche, JC. You have such wry humor.
JC: You play with God. You dance with God. You love with God.
MT: Today I am free to give of the bounty I have received. Today I allow God's silent presence to join me with those I meet.

174  (2006) God is but love, and therefore so am I.
Into His presence would I enter now.
Today I learn to give as I receive.

MT: It always comes as a surprise when I "enter into God's presence." What a different state of mind!
JC: You made up a world totally opposite to God's. The two do not overlap, but the one you made is quite compelling. I would expect no
less from a Son of God. Now you need to harness this power in the service of God, and become part of the solution.
MT: There is that urgency again. You walk the razor's edge, do you not? On the one hand, I "need do nothing," on the other, I must become part of the solution.
JC: You can be peaceful, happy, and determined at the same time.
MT: I guess you are saying that we don't want the energy of desperation.
JC: Desperation implies weakness. Desperation is of the ego. As a Son of the Father, you come from--you are--strength and light. Forgiveness gives you this certainty.
MT: It struck me, a while back, that forgiveness is the technology of enlightenment. We now have a clear path with precise signposts, our GPS, while before mankind was lost in dense woods. Will you be improving on our map?
JC: We will all work together from now on, you and I and all those who offer a little willingness.
MT: It is essential to practice forgiveness on a moment-by-moment basis, I see now. Without forgiveness, I will still be blind. Attack thoughts remove me from God's presence. What about giving and receiving?
JC: Open your hands to your brother and let love flow between you. The Kingdom is entered two by two.

175  (2006) God is but love, and therefore so am I.
I give the miracles I have received.
I am at home. Fear is the stranger here.

MT: I feel groggy this morning. I really would like to get back to bed.
JC: Why don't you?
MT: I have a class at 8:30, and I'm afraid of oversleeping if I go back to bed. I can take a nap later.
JC: That's OK too. You can do whatever you think best.
MT: Aren't you going to advise me, one way or another?
JC: No, I am not. You can figure out what's best to do. My body does not live in the 21st century, like yours.
MT: I am supposed to review the thoughts above.
JC: Let's make one thing clear: you are not "supposed" to do anything. Either you want to do things, or you don't. Even the law is only a matter of agreement. You can always do differently, if you are willing to take the consequences. When you use the word "supposed," you are placing volition outside of you, and at that moment you make yourself powerless.
MT: OK, I get the point. The word escaped me, that's all.
JC: You generated the word for a reason.
MT: Yes, I did. There was the feeling I really didn't have anything to say this morning, overlaid with a feeling of obligation. So I am split today.
JC: I think you are still angry from a dream you had just before waking.
MT: My dreams are much more vivid now. Sometimes they feel intrusive, and later I remember fragments through the day. Instead, help me remember the love of God, JC. That's my purpose this morning and all mornings, even if I occasionally frame it as something I'm "supposed" to do.
JC: I love you. I am the brother you did not have, growing up in your childhood home. I hold your hand. Listen to my voice through the day, and remember that you are at home. Offer miracles today, that you may own them for yourself.

176 God is but love, and therefore so am I.
Give me your blessing, Holy Son of God.
God is but love, and therefore so am I.
I am as God created me.
God is but love, and therefore so am I.

How could I be anything other than what God created? How could I not be love? Everything else is a dream, and does not exist. Thanks be to the idea that wakes me from the dream: I am as God created me.

176 (2006) God is but Love, and therefore so am I.

Give me your blessing, holy Son of God.
I am as God created me.

MT: Practicing patience here. Thanks for your help in dealing with the grandkids. I really don't want to lose my cool with them. They need patient authority, now more than ever.
JC: Glad about the light you shine.
MT: Thanks for your guidance in apologizing to Stevie for getting angry with him. It made a difference.
JC: What do you know about being defiant? Challenging your parents?
MT: I think defiance was knocked out of me early on.
JC: It is fine to be non-compliant. It is not a sin.
MT: The freedom and forgiveness I offer Stevie is my own. Thanks, JC. I am as God created me.

177 (2006) God is but love, and therefore so am I. There is no death. The Son of God is free. Now are we one with Him Who is our Source.

MT: Good mornin', JC.
JC: Good morning, friend.
MT: I your friend? I always think as YOU as my friend. You are bigger, older, wiser. You give, I take.
JC: I am older and wiser, yes. I walk ahead of you. But I want us all to recognize our equality in the Sonship.
MT: I just remembered the attack of the other day.
JC: There is no "just remembering." Every time, each time you focus on perceived attack (and notice the use of the word "perceived." It was used on purpose), you reinforce the ego. Come back to God instead, and accept peace today. But you have to be vigilant. Habits of decades tend to come back.
MT: OK, OK, you've got me.
JC: In my arms. I want to hug you forever. You are a beautiful soul.
MT: You sound like my friend C--.
JC: I sent him your way. Do you think it was an accident he showed up at the door to help you?
MT: Guess not! You are saying you sent him.
JC: But you had to ask for help. So much for pride of separation, the hubris of fake independence.
MT: I have this frisson of seeing the hand of God at work. This is a mysterious universe, and we mites cannot begin to comprehend it.
JC: You are a mite, but then you are not. One with God, the mite becomes a giant. You access resources that are, indeed, beyond comprehension. Welcome to the Real World.

178 (2006) God is but love, and therefore so am I.
Let not my mind deny the thought of God.
I am entrusted with the gifts of God.

MT: Feeling bummed out, JC. My neck hurts, it's tight like a violin string. I repeated the affirmation "I have no more need of this," but the problem became worse, not better.
JC: That is not surprising. The opposite is manifesting. What is needed is to truly let go of the problem.
MT: I feel discouraged. Neck pain feels like a toothache--uncomfortably close to my head. I feel irritable and impatient, and it takes quite an effort even to be stoic. Can you do something for me?
JC: You know I love you. You know I would help if you'd let me.
MT: How am I stopping you from helping me?
JC: Irritability and impatience are two ways that you avoid the connection with what could heal you in an instant. Focusing on your sore neck denies the Thought of God.
MT: So what do I DO, pray tell?
JC: You need do nothing. Step aside and let Him lead the way.
MT: Arrgh! Anything but that!

179 (2006) God is but love, and therefore so am I.
There is one life, and that I share with God.
Your grace is given me. I claim it now.

MT: Oh really?
JC: Really. There is one life, and that life you and I share with God.
MT: When I act lovelessly, I am making up a life that is apart from God. Or deluding myself that I can do so.
JC: Exactly. I know what you're thinking: that the ego context is running you these days, that you have no power over it.
MT: How did you know! God seems far away right now.
JC: You and I, we are one, remember? I know you, and you know me. There is no separation. And there is no space between you and God, either. God is within and all is well.
MT: Oh, JC, I need your help by my side. I am embedded in ego, my own and others', I'm getting tired, and my neck still hurts.
JC: You have done very well under difficult circumstances. You are a blessing to those around you, especially the grandchildren who so appreciate you.
MT: I ask for God's grace today, now.
JC: And yours it is.

180 (2006) God is but love, and therefore so am I.
By grace I live, by grace I am released.
There is no cruelty in God and none in me.

MT: Don't know what to say.
JC: Tell it like it is, no more, no less.
MT: My neck was OK most of the day, but now it got desperately tight and painful. I tried to take care of myself today, avoided ego attacks . . .
JC: The pain is an ego attack in disguise.
MT: The word "cruelty" jumps out at me. Am I being cruel to myself?
JC: You are giving yourself pain. Call it cruelty if you will, but it really is nothing.
MT: Oh, JC, I forget, hour after hour, until I get almost desperate. You have such a way of reminding me of what I forget.
JC: The pain is not real. Nothing you see is real. Step aside and let me lead the way.
MT: Guess I need to ask for guidance every hour. Maybe every minute!
JC: Ask, and it shall be given you!
